Welcome to Just Plain Cher, one of the largest Cher resources on the internet and also the longest running, celebrating 13 years on the web.
CHER ON THE BIG SCREEN NOVEMBER 2010!
Cher's new movie Burlesque is out! Be sure to check out our GALLERY for a heap of photos from the Los Angeles premiere as well as a bunch of new photos from some recent events. Cher will feature in a two page backstage spread on Burlesque in the 2010 Holiday Movie Preview issue of Entertainment Weekly. You can download it HERE courtesy of our friends at EW, but be sure to pick up the magazine when it hits newstands!

It's been a long, long time since the Dark Lady has graced the cover of a major publication, so make sure you buy it and make it a big successs. FREE TO GOOD HOME
I have just taken a look at the wayback machine and reminisced about how this site used to look many, many years ago - check it out HERE and it made me realise that this whole content management system hasn't worked how I hoped it would. Unfortunately the sophisticated proliferation of spam and robots has made moderation impossible, so I have had to deactivate all the interactive and user generated content because I simply couldn't keep up with the flaming.
The site needs reinvigorating and after 13 years on the web, and a colourful and rich history that has introduced me to thousands of Cher fans around the world, its time to move on.
So - if you are a devoted Cher fan, or perhaps the webmaster of an existing site that wants to take this over, then please get in touch and let me know your ideas and why you would like to be the proud owner of Just Plain Cher. The site currently returns first page results in Google for the term "Cher" and receives thousands of unique visitors are month so there's certainly huge growth potential (e.g. through social media).

CHER needs foot surgery. Something to do with a twice-broken toe. She was vague about this but said that earlier in the day, when she had gone shoe shopping, she couldn’t try on anything stylish or theatrical — anything Cher. Maybe next year, she said, after the operation.
Some friends wanted her to join them for a movie premiere in a few hours, but she was resisting. On this nippy evening in early November, as she curled up with a cup of cocoa in a Manhattan hotel suite, she was exhausted, even though she had just squeezed in a 45-minute nap, the heavy-lidded, woozy-voiced effects of which she was still shaking off.
Getting old, she said, stinks. She alternately stares it in the face and rejects it, teases that she’s 100 and puts the real number, 64, so far out of mind that, she said, “I should probably tattoo it on my hand to remember.”

There was Cher.
In short, Cher was it. From top to bottom, Cher was the prototype of the female rock star, setting the standard for appearance, from her early hippie days to her later outlandish outfits, and her attitude – the perfect female punk long before punk even was a rock term.

| News: CHER TALKS HER UN-SEXY BURLESQUE ROLE, RECENT INJURY AND TOM CRUISE |

Cher has a new movie in the works – “Burlesque” – opposite Christina Aguilera, but don’t let the title fool you. The 64-year-old told Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush on Thursday night that the film isn’t as saucy as it sounds – at least when it comes to her role.
“How sexy is Burlesque? Christina Aguilera was going off on it with me two nights ago,” Billy asked Cher on the red carpet on Thursday as she headed into the AFI Life Achievement Award celebration for director Mike Nichols.

| News: CHER AT TCM STAR IS BORN BASH |
|
The perpetually reclusive Cher made a rare public appearance in Hollywood on Thursday night (April 22).
Joined by longtime pal Hugh Hefner, the Moonstruck actress attended the TCM Classic Film Festival Vanity Fair after party for A Star is Born held at trendy celeb lounge Kress.
Dressed in jeans and a metallic snake skin blazer and looking at fit as a fiddle, Cher seemed like she hasn’t aged a bit.
Cher is currently working on a rock album.

| News: RUPAUL SPENDS CHRISTMAS WITH CHER |
|
Entertainer RuPaul was among a number of excited guests who enjoyed a Dinner party at Cher's fabulous Malibu mansion on Christmas Day.
Said RuPaul:
"In the weeks leading up to Cher's dinner party on Christmas Day, I barely told anyone that I'd been invited for fear talking about it might jinx it. Well, last night I went and I can't tell you how friggin' nervous and utterly excited I was! Of course, I hid my nervousness, but my excitement couldn't be contained. Her house is a palace overlooking the Pacific Ocean with all the splendor you'd expect from the woman called Cher. Moroccan opulence meets The Hearst Castle is the storyline, but it still manages to feel comfortable.

 Now that Chaz Bono (formerly known as Chastity) has gone public with his sex change, his mother, Cher, is opening up about how she feels about the news.
"Chaz is embarking on a difficult journey, but one that I will support," she tells PEOPLE in an exclusive statement. "I respect the courage it takes to go through this transition in the glare of public scrutiny and although I may not understand I will strive to be understanding. The one thing that will never change is my abiding love for my child."

Chastity Bono Undergoing Gender Reassignment Surgery

Chastity Bono, daughter of Cher and the late Sonny Bono, is undergoing gender reassignment surgery, his publicist confirmed to ABCNews.com.
"Yes, it's true -- Chaz, after many years of consideration, has made the courageous decision to honor his true identity," Howard Bragman said. "He is proud of his decision and grateful for the support and respect that has already been shown by his loved ones. It is Chaz's hope that his choice to transition will open the hearts and minds of the public regarding this issue, just as his 'coming out' did nearly 20 years ago.

Claims executives hid revenue from two albums

Cher has sued Universal Music Group, claiming that the label's creative accounting has shortchanged her and the heirs of her late ex-husband Sonny Bono to the tune of $5 million.
The lawsuit, filed Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court, claims an audit of UMG's accounting to the singer-actress from 2000 to 2003 showed that UMG execs "engaged in wrongful tactics" designed to hide revenue from two hit compilation albums.

| News: CHER REVEALS FINAL VEGAS RESIDENCY DATES |

With the 30th anniversary of her debut Ceasar's Palace performance approaching this June, pop icon Cher [ tickets ] has announced the final shows for her in-progress residency at the Las Vegas casino.
Since last check, another 33 performances have been unveiled, beginning Sept. 19 and running through Dec. 20. The 90-minute concert-style show continues the current four night a week schedule, running on Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. Several spring dates are forthcoming, getting underway April 25 and continuing through May 24, though the pop star's extravaganza will take a break over the summer months.

| CHER PROUD TO BE ARMENIAN |

 Burbank, Calif. - The year was 1993. Cher boarded "one of those big airplanes that has no seating," a DC-8 cargo ship, to Armenia. "It was such a rickety old plane and they had bolted these little seats in the back for us and given us a canister of oxygen." Because of the wartime power shortage, they had to get to Yerevan before dark, "and we hit the runway as the sun went down."
Cher recalls her trip to Armenia and discusses her Armenian heritage with Lusine Shahbazyan in an intimate and exclusive interview that will air for the first time this week on US-Armenia TV.
She's a superstar with more than four decades of staying power. She has sold more than 100 million albums and is an Oscar, Emmy, Grammy, and Golden Globe-winning performer. She has starred in movies and on television and has directed; she has been known for her tastes in fashion and men. Her life and her loves have been chronicled by media around the world, as Paul Chaderjian - who helped arrange the interview and participated in it - wrote in these pages in a Feb. 16, 2008, cover story.
