is the hired gunfighter sent to shoot the sheriff, and Sonny plays
the kind, old judge who has the original deed declaring who really
owns what.

(Cher) previews some low-budget TV pilots for next season that
were inspired by the energy crisis. The new shows include: The
Five Hundred Dollar Man, Tricycle Cops, Hollywood Square and a
Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour without Sonny.

the opening of a new group of Bono singers. In comedy blackouts,
William Shakespeare (Joe) recites a love verse he'd written for
his lady (Cher); and an Arab playboy (Joe) tries to convince his
date (Cher) that he's run out of gas.
2. "The Cops" -- Joe joins
the Comedy Hour regulars in a musical-comedy satire of the Keystone
Cops. In comedy blackouts, two officers (Joe and regular Ted Zeigler)
interrogate a man (regular Murray Langston) in an attempt to get
something they want; a rookie cop (Joe) is put in his place by
one of the toughest recruiting officers (Cher); an inspector from
Scotland Yard (Joe) assures a wealthy couple (Sonny and Cher)
that they're safe from the national jewel thieves; and the new
craze of writing tell-all books about their occupations is sweeping
through a police station.
3. A gypsy fortune teller
(Cher) is not as easily tricked as Sonny and Joe had thought.

Joe comes into the launderette, hoping to find a girl, which leaves
Laverne (Cher) ecstatic.
6. The Righteous Brothers
(Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield), together again for the first
time since their breakup six years ago, perform a medley of two
of their early hits, "Little Latin Lupe Lu" and "You've Lost That
Lovin' Feeling."
7. "Lady Luck" -- An elderly
woman (Cher) identifies Sonny from a police lineup as the man
who accosted her; Sonny is the victim of a practical joke about
a jealous husband, which was arranged by Candid Camera staffers
Allen Funt (Joe) and Dorothy Collins (Cher); and a pair of traveling
salesmen (Sonny and regular Billy Van) run out of gas in an out-of-the-way
area and end up at the cabin of a farmer (Joe) and his daughter.
8. "Mr. and Ms." -- Sonny
drops by Cher's office unannounced and is immediately jealous
of her new temporary secretary (Joe).

2. "The Vamps" -- The Caliph
(Joel) accuses Scheherazade (Cher) of telling him stories that
are unbelievable and threatens to have her executed (with Sonny
cast as the executioner); Dorothy (Cher) returns to Oz to marry
magnificent Marvin, the king of the Munchkins (regular Ted Zeigler),
as well as renew her friendships with the scarecrow (Joel), the
cowardly lion (Sonny) and the tin man (regular Billy Van); and
Sadie Thompson and the preacher (Sonny and Cher) are visited by
the surgeon general (Joel), who has come to the island looking
for a rare disease.
